The magnificence of a skylight is a feeling we’ve all have sense while sitting under an impressive construction. Daylight from a skylight can brighten up dark areas and converts ordinary rooms into brilliant spaces. But beyond lighten up our feelings, we all know that a skylight construction, until now, was coming together with a big unsolved problem.. water leakage. Some systems promised a cheap initially solution that proved later just an utopia or maybe a kind of “trap” as was only the beginning of a permanent maintenance contract.

The use of rubbers was not quite enough to stop water while a rubber has limited time duration.. is so easy for every one of us to realize this even from our car wipers.
Silicone adhesives were not an appropriate solution either, not only because of the same reasons as mentioned before.. but because the construction was sealed totally, at least at the beginning, without permitting the skylight to “breath”. But a system without natural or motorized ventilation could mean only one thing : Condensation..

Mich.Vakirtzis & Co – “Glazetech” Company and our patented aluminum waterproof shading system Glazetech DE, proudly won the first award in “The Gaia Awards event 2013” in Windows, doors and cladding category.
The ceremony was held in Dubai..., during The Big 5 2013 International Building & Construction Show (25-28 November 2013). The biggest event in Middle East which attracted over 2,500 exhibitors from 75 countries. More than 200 entries were submitted for the awards from all over the world.
